Hey Hey peoples!
I’d say good morning (cause I’ve been awake less than an hour, but it is actually about mid-day now). Anywho, as the title implies, today will be the last blog I do at age 22…and if you’ve been awake (or alive) less than hour and don’t get what I’m hinting at…well, tomorrow is my birthday, kapeesh.
On Saturday I had a sort of birthday gathering out in town…on the one hand it didn’t exactly go to plan, but on the other…it was a hilarious and action packed night of awesome. The way it didn’t go to plan was the fact that for a number of valid reasons, a lot of people couldn’t come out, then behind those were people that probably either don’t do fancy dress nights out…or! just didn’t give themselves time to prep? I dunno. So the night was basically just like 5 people in fancy dress, and the rest of the people that were out/ or met up with me later on were just in there regular day club attire…there loss imo, fancy dress rules!!

Ken from Street Fighter
Still though, in some ways it possibly for the best that it didn’t end up being a massive crowd of us out…simply because I ended up talking about Street Fighter etc with so many randoms, and I’ve had my photo taken with many crowds of strangers whom knew who I was (and some who didn’t…I had one person think I was “Daniel San” from the “Karate Kid” lolz :p!). So yeah…I might not of been the most “obvious to the general public” as to whom I was, but those that knew me totally bummed my referencing! heh. I own the costume too, so there’ll be more of that, for cert
.
Anyway, basically things started at about 5.30pm unofficially, got dressed, put on a Flight of the Conchords special at mine for a lil bit…then me and my cousin was in town for 6.20 in the Adelphi. Nobody else was due out till 8pm, so we was just 2 dudes (Ken & Tigger) in the Adelphi (pre-clubbers), it was like after work people, and people who’d come in for a pub dinner. So I think we left some people with the idea that we just dress up CAUSE WE CAN! rather than for a proper purpose. Spammed the jukebox there with Michael Jackson (and to my suprise they now have 3! Journey songs on the Adelphi Jukebox!)…and then as more people arrived and had a drink we bailed, and went to Roper for a couple, then eventually to Reflex! then after Reflex…I think at this point I got a Subway, although my timeline of the night is a bit warped. I believe I had a 12″ Meatball Marinara, and then from there I think it was Warehouse, and then Coda, although it could have been the other way round, I think after the Warehouse stamp of re-entry was acquired and the black “love dubstep/ hate racism” wristbands from Coda were on…it was a case of club hopping, and holy isht! I danced my white ass off, I can only remember random little things of it all, and then after Coda closed, some french fries (with red salt) got ordered…then the 3 of us whom were still out at that time decided to cab to mine for a bit of a quieter after party.
…and that was that.
All in all, great night! Eager for more fancy dress action though!

Tomorrow night I’m off to Chiquito’s for some Mexican food, then off to PR1 …i mean “RUMES” for some good ol’ midweek rock n roll! Not been to Chiquito’s in about a year, so I’m looking forward to that (as small and regular as the activity may seem), and hitting up “Where’s Mavis” is always generally a decent night with the right people, no doubt I’ll be loaded up on colourful mixed alcoholic beverages again and might not remember the full night properly :p, but I’m sure it’ll be good
Not actually sure what to expect for my birthday so far either…normally like a week or so before I’d end up seeing my Nan who’d ask me if I wanted anything specific, and the same would go for my mum too…but up until the text my mum sent me earlier on (a day before), …well it seems like it’s just cash and perhaps some suprises, which works for me.

Moving on though…the other MASSIVE thing to blog about right now…seeing as I haven’t blogged since last Tuesday. Michael Jackson! I was in a form of shock when I heard the news last Wednesday night. I had a pop up from “TwitterFox” (a firefox add-on making following twitter easier), it was actually Ashton Kutcher whom I first heard anything off as I he mentioned that a news story had JUST broke on MJ having had a heart attack, then from there Twitter started exploding with news from everyone, it was a mass internet confusion for about 30mins, where there were sources saying Michael Jackson had died, and others saying he was just in “bad shape” or “in a coma”, but eventually the smoke cleared and it was official, the King of Pop was no longer with us.
I was about to say that MJ was one of the worlds most iconic and recognisable entertainers, but he isn’t restricted to just “entertainers” he was literally one of the most well known people on the planet. I don’t think for me it has still sunk in yet, I suppose partly because of the fact that he was more a “name” these days than anything. I mean for obvious reasons (mostly bullying) Michael Jackson stays out of the public eye a lot, and people have tried to bring his name down many a times with many a scandals (whether they’re true or not), but MJ cemented himself as a fucking epic star from the 70′s and was still going strong into the 90′s. He has SOO many amazing songs, and influenced SOOO many artists. So even though the man himself is gone, all his achievements will live on within those that grew up within the expansive Michael Jackson era

I’m definitely making a comeback on the “video game <3″ front also. Been playing my 360 quite a lot recently…and no doubt from this week onwards my Wii will start carving it’s way back into regular play. I got Call of Duty: World at War and Kane & Lynch yesterday (both for 360). Call of Duty: World at War is a game I meant to get at it’s release last year, but just didn’t get round to it…and as time passed I held off, expecting some price drops, but they just never came :p, but I picked it up pre-owned yesterday for £25. Whilst out I got (IO Interactive’s) “Kane and Lynch” for £5, which I think could end up being awesome value for money…the game isn’t amazing by any means, but it does remind me a little bit of “Freedom Fighters” (which was also made by IO Interactive). I really really enjoyed “Freedom Fighters” on PC back when that was new, and have longed for a sequel. Kane & Lynch definitely isn’t a sequel, but i can see how some have seen it as a sort of spiritual sequel. It seems like a cool game though, and one I was told to check out by one of the people who worked on the game about 5 months or so ago
[basically someone from IO interactive bought something off eBay and then I curiously got chatting to him about stuff]. Speaking of IO interactive, I think I’ll re-pick up Hitman: Blood Money on 360 too, played it a lot about 3 years ago, but it’s been ages since I’ve played it…and I can probably get that for under £10 now.
The gaming love doesn’t stop there though, my most played game over the last weekend was the newly released “Fight Night Round 4″. In a nutshell, the game is awesome. I had to adjust still to the gameplay, as I skipped out on ‘Round 3′ so I was more used to the arcadier feeling Fight Night Round 2.

Fight Night Round 4
FN:R4 visually looks great, and plays amazing (imo), not only is the fighting gameplay good in a sort of complex, rock, paper, scissor sense, but you can theoretically fight in many different styles, just like the sport itself. The main meat of the game is “Legacy Mode” though, and although this is a really cool mode, it doesn’t ease you in as much as you’d perhaps like too, plus there seems to be some emphasis on retiring at as high a rank as possible, so although I’m not sure about that yet…I feel like my Legacy Mode thing might have a deadline too it that I’m not in control of…in which case it adds to the pressure of climbing the ranks as fast as I can, but at the same time I can’t keep fighting as I need to train and improve my stats. Still…if it remains enjoyable, then playing through that mode more than once will be appealing, which in turn is great because Replay Value is something I appreciate in games
. Looking forward to see what EA do for DLC for the game, and the addition of ESPN sport news and sport radio streaming into the main menu’s (only if connected to XBOX LIVE/ PSN) is really cool too.
So! In short, Fight Night Round 4 is amazing, and without the doubt the best boxing sim to date. The awesome-ness of the game jump started my motivation into getting round to watching the fairly recent documentary on Mike Tyson’s life (watched it Friday night). Really good watch imo, shows his side of things on his career, how things got dealt with, problems he had, and generally it’s just a really interesting biographical story on one of sports most colourful competitors, kinda felt a little bit sorry for him at times too, as he seems to be a man living his life with a number of regrets underneath him :\
…also, on the subject of Boxing, I watched “Raging Bull” last night for the first time, and holy shit! Robert DeNiro has (I didn’t think it was possible) made me respect him even more.
Raging Bull for those not in the know is a boxing movie from 1980 starring Robert DeNiro, it is based on the real life boxer “Jake LaMotta” (whom is in Fight Night Round 4), and it’s basically a film on his life as a boxer and post-boxing, and covers a load of his personal problems and such, the film itself was really cool, but the thing that has me in amaze! is the fact that Robert DeNiro trained his ass off to be in physical shape to play Jake LaMotta, then for the last 30mins of the film he plays Jake in his post-retirement days, and the thing that is amazing is the fact Robert DeNiro put on the weight to play the role, and it’s not like he just gained a few pounds…he gained like 40, and looks like a completely different person, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone do that much for character ever. It’s quite a sight to see, and just adds to the film, and to DeNiro’s awesomeness.
…Anywho, work is picking up, so thus my blog is being rushed (lame!), the old word count ticker is saying I’m past 1900 at the moment though, so I may as well end things here. Reckon I’ll hit another blog out on Wednesday or Thursday, so yeah…if you deem my blog worthy of killing time, then I’ll murder some more of your innocent time later this week.
Till then…Adios Amigos
